D-Day

It’s D-Day.

You know, the day before V-Day.

The day when you had better solidify those plans for celebrating the one you love, or else suffer the consequences…

D-Day, of course. 🙂

Well, the hubs and I have already celebrated. We went out to eat Saturday night. Wanna know why? We had a giftcard for a restaurant not in our town. So we went on a weekend so that E’s grandparents (Grammy & G-Diddy) could babysit for us- score! Also, we have revival at church this week, so going out on Tuesday will be impossible. Are we impossibly cheap for using a giftcard for our Valentine meal? Of course. We embrace the cheapness.

I can’t just leave you hanging without any D-Day help though… so in case you are still floundering, looking for some love-spiration, I thought I’d share some of my favorite love quotes with you.

When Nathan and I were dating, he went to China for a month to teach English. I was devastated at the thought of being apart for a month! So, I wrote him a journal- a letter for each day, along with a quote and a verse or prayer. Each day was themed according to some memory from the time that we had dated. It took me weeks  months to finish…but it was well worth it, because he loved it. And since I loved him then, and still love him now, it was worth it to me to.

Without further ado, here is a smattering of the quotes from that journal. If you need a good quote for that sentimental home-made card, or want to leave little mirror notes for the one you love, here are some good ones- I’ll spare you from having to read all 30+ from each day! 🙂

Happy D-Day!

“Love is a by-product of trust.”

“Do you want me to tell you something really subversive? Love IS everything it’s cracked up to be. That’s why people are so cynical about it. It really IS worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don’t risk anything, you risk even more.”

“And ever has it been that love knows not its’ own depth until the hour of separation.” -Kahlil Gibran

    Hey Heidi,
Happy D-day! I loved this post! I didn’t remember that Nate had gone to China without you–just remembered when you both went at the same time. Anyway, all the quotes were interesting, some memorable, to me…especially the one by Hoyle Bowman!
    Happy V-day, too!

PS Funny thing happened this weekend: We were skiing with our youth group at WinterPlace, WV & we bumped into Megan & Eric , who were there with their youth group, also. Megan did not ski (neither did I )!We did have a good time visiting, though . And, the karaoke in the lodge was not to be missed-ha!!
